In “On Social Media We’re All Rich” I’m sharing thoughts about why and how social media distorts our concepts about our financial well being. Can paying less attention to what we see there can be better for our us? Ok, I’m not advocating cancelling your Facebook account (well… I wouldn’t be against it… but I get it…). In fact, I said that in conversation with Doug Hoyes on his “Debt Free in 30” podcast. I’ve included a snippet of our conversation as part of today’s message.
Why do I think this is important? Report after report shows financial anxiety at the top of the list of stressors for North Americans. It’s not hard to understand that trying to keep up to an unrealistic vision of someone else’s life can and is causing damage to our financial well being. In short, we need to take back control of our own financial behaviour.
I hope you enjoy it. As always, “thank you” for listening (questions and podcast ideas always welcome!)
